a blog to support the troops in the British Army. I know I can't raise money by simply opening a Tumblr blog but by reblogging pictures I hope to get the faces of the troops fighting for this country, and for the hopes of other countries, spread across as many blogs as I can. I'm not saying I don't support the Navy, or the Marines, or the RAF, I do, a 100%, it's just I thought of opening an Army blog instead. None of the pictures are mine unless otherwise stated. cruising-to-disaster: Sergeant Gareth Thursby killed in Afghanistan It is with great sadness that the Ministry of Defence must confirm that Sergeant Gareth Thursby, of 3rd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment (3 YORKS), was killed in Afghanistan on Saturday 15 September 2012. He was 29 years old and is survived by his wife, Louise, and two children, Joshua and Ruby. Sgt Thursby, alongside Pte Thomas Wroe, was shot and fatally wounded by a rogue Afghan Local Policeman who had faked an injury and asked them for help. The incident took place in Checkpoint Tora in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand province.  Both men served proudly and in the highest traditions of The Yorkshire Regiment. They will never be forgotten.

Sgt Thursby, alongside Pte Thomas Wroe, was shot and fatally wounded by a rogue Afghan Local Policeman who had faked an injury and asked them for help. The incident took place in Checkpoint Tora in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand province. 

Both men served proudly and in the highest traditions of The Yorkshire Regiment. They will never be forgotten.

cruising-to-disaster: Guardsman Jamie Shadrake killed in Afghanistan It is with great sadness that the Ministry of Defence must confirm that Guardsman Jamie Shadrake of the Reconnaissance Platoon, 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, was killed in Afghanistan on Friday 17 August 2012. Guardsman Shadrake died of gunshot wounds sustained when his checkpoint was attacked by insurgents in the Nahr-e Saraj District of Helmand province. He was 20 years old.
